How to compare two entry-door quotes fairly

Two door quotes can look comparable while describing very different work. Before deciding that one is better value, put the inclusions beside each other. The exercise is less glamorous than choosing a finish, but it can prevent a disappointing surprise.

Check the model, complete dimensions, frame configuration, glazing, finish and hardware. Then look for delivery, removal of the existing assembly, installation, disposal and making good around the opening. Ask about anything left unspecified instead of assuming it is included.

Note which details are provisional. A price based on approximate measurements may need revision after a site visit. Clarify the process for confirming those details and obtaining approval for changes, along with the proposed payment terms and schedule.

Keep comparison notes factual. A lower total is not automatically a shortcut, and a higher one is not proof of better workmanship. Ask each supplier to resolve the same open questions. Once the scope is genuinely aligned, you can weigh design, documentation, service and cost with much more confidence.
